Corpus Christi

I drove down to Corpus Christi yesterday for the State Knights of Columbus Convention. I am sitting in the 9th floor of the Omni hotel overlooking the Gulf. I must say that life is good. While driving down they were talking on the radio about Republican Candidates. Did you realize that there are 10 candidates?

I figure it comes down to two. John McCain and Rudy Juliane. On the surface they both seem like good candidates. A friend once told me how to vote. He said to vote your wallet. I looked at him funny and he explained. He said in your wallet is your Knights of Columbus ID showing you are a devout Catholic and your Concealed Handgun License. To this date that is how i vote.

To get my vote, a candidate must be Pro-Life and support the Second Amendment. I have to tell you that holding too those two criteria, you will eliminate almost everyone. Now everybody knows that Rudy believes in killing unborn babies and New York has very strict gun control. He is disqualified for my vote, as a matter of fact he can kiss my ass.

John seems to be all over the place on several issues plus he is 70 years old but ole John meets my first two criteria. I will have to take a better look at him. So far he is the front runner to get my vote.

Lets say i wanted to vote Democrat. I would if they could run someone who met my first two criteria. What do we have to choose from? Hilliary, hell no. Her and her Husband are entirely too crooked for me. Obama, i can not vote for someone who doesn't believe in God. I will not vote for a Muslim. John Edwards, i am not sure of his stance on my two items.

I have to say that this Presidential election is going to be interesting. Hopefully someone will win that believes in God, is against abortion, supports the 2nd amendment, and wants America to be number one. Is there anyone out there who can do it?

Muslims believe in God, Ray - the same God we do. They simply call Him by a different name and choose to worship in a fundamentally different way, in much the same way that Baptists are very different from Catholics.

The problem with Islam isn't the religion, it's the actions of a few people who pervert it, and the inaction of the vast majority who allow themselves to be tainted by the acts of the few.

The same thing happens among Christian faiths, too.

That said, I ain't votin' for Obama either.

Ah grasshopper, you are close but still eluded by Islam. They do not worship the same God. They do not believe that God gave the 10 commandments and the Old Testament and that God oversaw the writing of the New testament. They believe that it is their job to deliver unto the infidel what is just. Problem is they base everything on Mohomad, not Jesus. If they do not believe in Jesus, then by definition they do not believe in the same God. They think that Jesus was just a prophet, not the Son of God.

Take the symantics out of it and they are not Christians. A Non-Christian should not be the leader of a country that was founded on Christianity and everyone of our laws are rooted in Biblical principles.

How can one uphold what one doesn't believe in? One can not do it passionately and therefore this one should not be President.

Yup, same God. Their doctrine in worshipping him is different fundamentally from ours in Christianity, but whether called God, Allah or Yahweh, it's the same God.

We have radical differences in theology WITHIN Christianity itself. Catholic vs Protestant, Baptists and Episcopalians sneer at each other, and even we Episcopalians are warring amongst ourselves over the issue of homosexuality within the priesthood. If different groups of Christians, with as much as we have in common, can't reach a consensus on the word of God, is it so far fetched to think of Muslims in the same light - basically good people who worship the same God, yet simply take a different path to him?

That's my take on it anyway.

if you vote democrat you can probably kiss your job and mine goodbye. Drilling would come to a hault and alternative fuel sources would be found and used. So please don't lose sight of who pays your bills. It is largely in part due to the republicans. The rich oilmen republicans

My gosh Ray...you sure like stirring the pot, don't you??
My take...if you want to be supervisor/ruler of a job/country that bases it's morals/foundation on Christianity/GOD and youdon't agree with any of it...then go find a country who will invest their time, money, resources, and trust in you to go flap your mouth and bulshit with. Yeah, I'm sure you get equality everywhere else.
