Question

The other day i was watching a movie called Constantine. It was in my opinion a decent flick, but it got me to thinking. Why is it that any movie that challenges religion, challenges Catholicism?

Is Catholicism the rock that all other religions are measured against?

Could it be that Catholicism is the only religion that can claim the same management for 2007 years?

Now, for you Protestants out there, do not believe what i am about to say. Go to the library and look it up for yourself and find the truth for yourself. The truth will set you free.

About 2007 years back there was this fellow with an idea. He picked 12 other guys, not gals, to help him spread his word. He left one of the 12 in charge after he died. The one he left in charge was Simon Peter, some may call him the head honcho or some may call him a Pope.

After Jesus died, 11 apostles set about the world spreading the word and enlisting disciples. These disciples were left as presbyters to look after the church that the apostle founded. Those left in charge could be called Priest. If you had a bunch of priest in one region, then they would appoint a Head Priest, or Bishop, to govern that region. This is where we get the Papal Succession. The Bishop that ordained the Pope, was ordained by a another Bishop ordained by another Bishop and so forth. It can be traced all the way back to Simon Peter, the first Pope.

If an Apostle or a Disciple went to an area and they needed help, he may write them a letter. Like a letter to the Corinthians. All these letters were at some time collected and made into a book we know as the Bible. Someone oversaw the making of the book and created what is called the Code of Cannon Law. Want to take a guess at what organization made this happen? If you answered the Catholic Church, you were right.

Now the printing press wasn't invented until 1440 so before that the religion relied upon Tradition that was taught to them by the Apostles or Disciples and handed down to those who followed the teachings. This is why the Catholic Faith is rich with tradition and Sacraments and Sacramentals.

After 1440 the Bible started being printed and the Old Testament was in Hebrew and the New Testament was in Greek. Eventually the Text was translated in Latin, the most common language at the time. Along comes this King named James who was found of English Prose. He decided to re-write the Bible with an Old English Prose and it was released in 1611. If you believe that the KJV is the best bible, enjoy your copy of a copy of my Bible.

Around the 1500's a Catholic Priest by the name of Martin Luther wasn't happy with the way the Church was being managed. There was corruption in the Papal office and people were "buying" their way into Heaven. Martin Luther become the first reformer and broke off and started his own religion. Martin Luther interpreted the Bible differently and his interpretation greatly influenced King James who re-wrote the Bible. Martin Luther is credited with starting the Lutheran religion and influencing all protestant religions.

The Catholic Faith is the only one that can be traced backed to Jesus. All others trace back to Martin Luther. All the First Baptist, Second Baptist and all others are a spin off of Catholicism. Do you want copy of a copy of a copy or do you want the original? The choice is yours.

Like i said, don't believe me and look it up for yourself. If you feel i am in error, please feel free to sate your point.
