WhyI haven't been posting

As you can see i haven't been posting with any regularity. I have in fact been busy in an investigation. We had a little fire out here in West TX and since we were working around there we have to investigate what happened. I am including a link to some pretty scary photographs that were taken.

I grew up in a refinery town. I've seen a few of these critters and felt the thump in my chest when they lit up. Nothing like waking in the night, with the power out, and looking at the orange light in the night sky.

I had a first hand experience during the second week of my offshore job. An Otis jack-up barge (wire line rig) sank at the end of the production platform that was connected to the living quarters platform. The rough seas rocked the barge enough that it settled into the sea bed on top of the 18 inch gas line to the bank. The line ruptured on a Friday night. Within moments, 1200 psi natural gas was feeding a fire that a crew boat skipper at the bank mistook for the sunrise.

Nobody was hurt, but a West wind probably would have prevented evacuation and guaranteed a few deaths.

Hope your investigation reaches a conclusion.
